Home Tested at 70 pCi/L!
We were contacted by this new home owner in Akron, OH who just had a radon test come back at around 70 pCi/L, which is equivalent to smoking 175 cigarettes a day in lung cancer risk! We quickly gave an estimate and scheduled an install date.
This house was a large sprawling ranch, so the square footage also posed a problem. We ended up putting in 2 suction points, which helped us get plenty of airflow throughout the slab. There was also a sump pit which we sealed up to stop the gas coming directly from the soil.
By putting in that extra suction point as well as putting in a higher suction fan, we were able to reduce the levels down to around 1 pCi/L! This is well below the action level and even the recommended level for radon, the homeowner was extremely happy.
