This customer started out with radon levels at around 45 pCi/L which is over 10 times the action level.
When putting the proposal together, we knew that this job was going to be very complex. There were 5 different slabs of concrete which meant at least 5 suction points to address each section. 2 main levels and 3 separate crawlspaces. We ended up doing 6 suction points that fed 2 separate systems, along with a sump put cover due to the very high levels to ensure that the customer's radon was below the action level at 4 pCi/L.
Luckily for this homeowner, all of the crawlspaces were covered in concrete which meant that in order to seal the the surface and efficiently remove the radon gas, we just had to caulk a couple cracks and put a suction point in each.
This job took 5 days and lots of new techniques but in the end it taught us some valuable lessons on how to combat such a situation. So that in the future, we will be more than ready for the unique jobs that are sure to come our way!
We successfully lowered the customers levels to less than 1 pCi/L.
