Dangerous Radon Levels in Streetsboro, OH

We have seen many new homes in Streetsboro, OH that test high for radon. So we really work on educating those communities on the health risks they may be exposed to.

We had one homeowner who had his personal radon monitor and was concerned when he was seeing readings of around 12 pCi/L.

We came out and explained the mitigation process, showed him some of our options to increase the aesthetics of the system and he was ready to move forward.

This family had a couple young children and were looking to finish their basement so they had their radon levels checked. The test came back at 9 pCi/L so they needed a mitigation system.

We discussed with them the best system as well a good location for looks and functionality. Which ended up being right next to the other utilities as to dampen any sound from the system as well as to minimize the affect on the aesthetics of the home.

The system was basic with a sump lid and a single suction point. All of the homes in the neighborhood are relatively new so they have a vapor barrier and gravel underneath the slab which helps immensely with getting strong airflow throughout the basement.

This job was for the real estate sale of a condo. This meant that we had to adhere to the local HOA as well as ensuring that we finish the install before the closing date. These are both things that we work closely with our customers with to ensure a smooth process.

The way the house was laid out, the only way to get outside to vent our system was to first go into the garage and then go from there. Anytime we drill through the garage walls, we use either fire collars or caulk, this is because the walls are fire blocks, which helps to stop a fire in the garage spreading to other parts of the home and we want to make sure they are sealed back up with the correct material. Then from there we were able to come out near the AC on the backside of the garage. Our design kept the system tucked away and out of sight. The levels were also reduced to an acceptable level for the real estate sale.
