When owning a radon system, the number one thing to pay attention to is the fan. This is generally the only moving part and is the most likely to go bad. The fan manufacturers give a warranty of 5 years on the fans, so if your unit breaks after that then you'll have to pay a radon contractor to come out and replace it.
The easiest ways to know if your fan is failing is if you start to hear a loud noise coming from it, this indicates that the bearings or the motor itself are going bad. A visual indicator you can also use is the u-tube manometer on the inside section of pipe (which is the red tube on the side of the pipe). If the reading drops then you know that the suction from the fan is also dropping, telling you that it's not as strong or efficient.
We recently did a fan replacement in Ravenna, OH , the homeowners had called us the day before and needed it done quickly for a real estate sale. So we came out, replaced the fan in about 30 minutes, double checked the inside gauge and we were on our way.
